Chicago – Monday a federal judge ruled that Jordan Marsh intentionally hid evidence and subsequently lied about his reason for doing so, in the fatal 2011 police shooting death of Darius Pinex. Marsh, one of Chicago’s top attorneys, is the second attorney to resign due to unethical and illegal actions during the proceedings; In August of 2015 Thomas Aumann resigned from the department. Three officers with the Kodiak police department were involved in the pepper spraying of Nick Pletnikoff, who was born with autism, before arresting him. The police were alerted to the 29-year-old after tourists claimed he had entered their car and was rifling through the contents of the vehicle.
Kathleen Gambling, Phillip Christman and Sergeant Francis de la Fuente, the officers who arrested Pletnikoff, have been the target of serious criticism from the community. The Fresno Police Department is at the forefront of a new social media technology that will assign threat levels to individuals using their posts on social media. The product known as “Beware” uses similar technology as credit checks and is supposed to determine how much danger the officers will be getting into when responding to 911 calls.
